Catheral Choristers during a recent tour to Canada

The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Choir - one of England's most outstanding choirs

Runnymede St Edward's School is proud of its association with Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Choir; all the choristers are boy pupils of Runnymede St Edward's School or St Edward's College - and they sing at Cathedral services, with orchestras and soloists, as well as touring at home and abroad. They also take part in broadcasts, recordings and other activities.

Besides receiving training during choir practice, choristers are given individual singing lessons, and learn to play at least one instrument.

Choristers are awarded Choral scholarships by the Cathedral, and if appropriate grants help to pay fees at Runnymede. Entry to the Choir is by audition, usually when a boy is in Year Two or Three of his Primary School. If not already a pupil in the Runnymede, a successful candidate must also satisfy the normal entrance requirements of the school. Details of entry into the Choir can be obtained from the Director of Cathedral Music. For more information about the life of a chorister, please visit the Choir Schools Association of which Runnymede is a member.
