Year 5
Welcome to Year 5
Pupils in Year Five have the opportunity to study a broad curriculum as well as participating in many other activities.
In the Autumn Term they take part in a week's residential at the Winmarleigh Hall, developing their outdoor activity skills as well as their confidence and team building skills. They benefit from a range of visitors to the school including 'The Young Shakespeare Company' supporting the English Curriculum and the 'Kinetic Theatre Company' supporting the Science Curriculum. As the pupils prepare for Christmas they enjoy the Carol Concert at the Cathedral, rein-acting the Christmas Story. At the end of the term the children round off their History topic with a 'Greek Day'.
Children from both Year 5 classes took part in the fun run to raise awareness of the work done by CAFOD. Children ran enthusiastically on a hot day and also helped add to the donation with their sponsored efforts.
The Summer Term is a busy one! Pupils visit Llandudno for the day, looking at how the seaside resort has changed, as well as Sport's Day and Prize Giving at the Cathedral.
Pupils thoroughly enjoy the chance to take part in a wide range of sports including rugby, football, hockey and netball in the Autumn Term, and tennis, cricket, rounders and athletics in the Summer Term. Many get the opportunity to represent the school at sports fixtures. All the children swim once a week throughout the year.
Children in Year Five are well prepared for their final school year at Runnymede.
Children from Year 5 Enjoyed a 'Fun Run' to The challenge of Jacob's Ladder at Winmarleigh Hall!
