Year 6
Welcome to Year 6
Starting Year 6 is really exciting. Children have the chance to
vote for the school's Head boy and Head girl. They are also
responsible for choosing the House Captains for St. Andrew,
St. David, St. George and St. Patrick. These are positions of
responsibility and are to be taken very seriously.
During Year 6 there are many opportunities for celebrating
and having fun. They also have the honour of leading special
Collective Worships for the whole school, Harvest, Advent,
Christingle, Shoe-box appeal, Lent, Easter, the Feast of
Blessed Edmund Rice and many more.
It is while in Year 6 the children perform the most
spectacular of productions. The children (and parents)
work hard to learn lines, songs, create costumes and
perform. Over the past years they have taken part in
Treasure Island Robin Hood Olivia, Wind in the Willows
and Charlotte's Web. They are always fantastic times for
Year 6 but also for the whole school who get involved in
scenery and decorations. After this, they go on their
Residential trip to Patterdale in the Lake District. Here they
learn about communal living, outdoor activities and
working closely as a team. It is an exhausting but truly
exceptional time.
There are many other activities, occasions and events that form part of life in Year 6. They are all an important part of preparing our children for their next important step to their new Secondary School.
